Swim Team Wrapping Up First Season

Heron Bay HurricanesThe Heron Bay Swim Team, the Hurricanes, had its inaugural season this summer and are now wrapping up practice this week in anticipation of the final swim meet at the Clayton County Aquatic Center. The 40-member team has been working extremely hard since mid-May and will celebrate all of that hard work with an award ceremony at the Heron Bay Aquatic Center next week. Over the summer they have competed in 6 meets against Monarch Village Flyers, Lakemont Lightning, Eagles Landing Swim Team, Fairfield Area Swim Team (F.A.S.T), Tara Tarpons and Walden Waves.

As the master-planned community in Henry County continue to grows so do the events and activities available year-round to all the residents. In essence, the homeowners have many opportunities to meet new neighbors and spend time with friends that reside in the Atlanta lake community. As well as events, Heron Bay has a multitude of amenities including a 3-pool Aquatic & Tennis center, 3 miles of nature trails and a Canongate golf course.

The 5-acre Lakefront Park & Pavilion will be the site of the next community event, a Sunset Picnic, where the residents can bring a picnic and watch the (more…)

Here’s to you Dad!

Dad and sonDad’s get one day a year  and it is coming up, this Sunday, June 20th. There are many things happening in and around Atlanta that Dad will be able to celebrate Father’s Day all weekend long.

Start the weekend off at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Henry County for Friday Night Drags. It’s drag racing action that’s fun for the whole family.

Locust Grove, Georgia is hosting their Farmer’s Market in the Grove on Saturday, June 19th from 9AM to noon. Here, you’ll be able to check out fresh produce from local farmers and other homemade goodies.

Take Dad to see the Atlanta Braves play the Kansas City Royals at Turner Field Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Play a round of golf at Canongate at Heron Bay and then enjoy lunch with your dad in the clubhouse overlooking the putting green and driving range. Atlanta Golf Community Welcomes New Committees

Heron Bay ClubhouseHeron Bay Golf & Country Club would like to welcome the newest inductees to our four resident volunteer community committees. Elected by the Community Association, these committees are designed to better both Heron Bay and the Heron Bay Community Association by allowing the Association to have their eyes and years to the ground. This allows homeowners the opportunity to enjoy positive growth while maintaining property values.

The Positive Standard’s Committee supports the covenants and guidelines within the Heron Bay community. This group helps fuel positive growth by providing a high level of communication within the community and offering educational community tools.

Sunset Picnic this Weekend for Residents

HBlakeOn July 18th, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, along with the Heron Bay Community Association and The Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee, will host a “Sunset Picnic” at the Lakefront Park from 7-9pm. This event is free to all homeowners and is a way for neighbors to get to know one another and community leaders.

Bring your blankets and chairs, picnic baskets and, most of all, your family. Don’t worry about dessert because the Heron Bay Community Association will provide everyone with ice cream! The event will take place just before sunset allowing homeowners to enjoy the spectacular views of the lake with family and friends.

Committee members will be also be present to talk with homeowners about the role of the committees within the community. (more…)

Heron Bay Residents Enjoy Summer Evenings at the Lakefront Park

hblakeHeron Bay Golf & Country Club’s Lakefront Park opened a year ago and this summer residents can take full advantage of all that the park offers. From a nice grassy spot for a picnic lunch to a serene setting for reading a book, the Lakefront Park is the perfect spot to enjoy a summer evening.  Heron Bay residents will make many memories at the park that features a large pavilion that offers breathtaking views of Cole Reservoir and includes a catering kitchen, overhead fans, picnic tables, fire pits, an iPod docking station and swings. Beautiful pergolas are scattered around the lawn surrounding the pavilion and provide an ideal place to relax. Haley’s Sleepover

heron-bay-campfireI ask you – what more could a bird ask for than a night under the starry sky; a crackling campfire; the moon glistening on the lake; and marshmallows for roasting? Yes, you can have it all at Lakefront Park in Heron Bay.

Of course, when you add seven giggling girls to the mix, it’s a whole different experience.

Haley had a backyard campout with six of her closest neighborhood friends the other night, so we started with a campfire cookout at Lakefront Park. We built a fire in one of the fire pits, and the girls roasted hot dogs. Helen had packed all the fixings, which we spread out on a picnic table under the pavilion. The fans kept us cool and kept the bugs away, too.

As darkness fell, the girls caught fireflies and played flashlight tag. It was a picture-perfect evening. Then it was time to make s’mores over the fire. Do (more…)
