Henry County Fair

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

The Henry County Fair took place from September 29 - October 5 at Windy Hill Park in McDonough. The fair featured rides for children, a horse race and demonstration, as well as food vendors. Local residents and businesses displayed crafts, jewelry, food and arts. One of the biggest features of the fair was a 330 pound pumpkin that has grown over the past year!

The Kiwanis Club has sponsored the fair for the past 25 years. All money raised at the event remains in the county to assist local organizations. Other organizations involved in making this annual fair occur include the Henry County 4-H Club, the City of McDonough and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Office in McDonough.

This was a fantastic way for Heron Bay residents to enjoy the early fall weather. Along with local events, the residents of this Atlanta master planned community are also able to enjoy events within their own community.

Help Keep Noah’s Boat Afloat

Monday, August 11th, 2008

cats8lg.jpgOn Saturday, August 9th, August 16th & September 20th from 10AM—12PM the Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee will be collecting donations for Noah’s Ark. Noah’s Ark is a rehabilitation center for over 1,000 animals. The non-profit organization, located in Locust Grove, also serves as a home for children up to 18 years old. Noah’s Ark relies on donations to keep the facility running. If donations are not plentiful animals in need of rehabilitation must be turned away. In 2007, 1,289 animals could not be taken in because of lack of funding.

Be sure to stop by the Lodge in the Atlanta golf community on any of the dates mentioned above to make a donation to the Ark. They need animal feed and toys, school supplies, childrens DVD’s and outdoor toys for the children. Gift cards to Walmart, grocery stores and restaurants are also welcome, along with other monetary donations. Go to the following website to order feed supplies and they will be delivered directly to Noah’s Ark: www.akinsfeedandseed.com

Your generosity is what keeps this boat afloat

Sometimes Less Really is More

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

heronbay_marsh.jpgAll residents of Heron Bay Golf & Country Club know they have a high-quality, luxury home no matter what part of the master-planned community they live in. Even better are the conveniences of the retail village at Heron Bay which include restaurants, shops, an urgent care clinic, banks and other daily errand stops which allows residents to save time driving around and spend more time doing the things they love.  However, its what residents might not necessarily notice that truly gives this Atlanta golf community the luxurious and peaceful feel its known for: over 560 acres of green space! This incredible amount of green space is not only really impressive for a master-planned community, but also is such a great way to enjoy the natural beauty Georgia has to offer. Heron Bay is a perfect blend of all the modern conveniences and home upgrades of an Atlanta new home, while still maintaining 560 acres of what makes the south a beautiful place to live. So take a walk around Heron Bay in Henry County and really take pride in one community that understands that less really is more.

Keep Up with Henry Heron

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Meet Henry HeronTo read about Heron Bay events from the perspective of a resident, you should follow along with Henry Heron’s journal. He adds a new entry about once a week describing how happy he and his family are living in their new Locust Grove home at Heron Bay. He even has his own myspace page, and would love to be your friend. By subscribing to both the Heron Bay Blog and Henry Heron’s journal, you are sure to be covered on all of the happenings at Heron Bay. And what’s even better, you get two different perspectives. For example, go ahead a check out his most recent journal entry discussing the Value Protection program that John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods is currently offering. The Heron Bay blog recently touched on how great of an incentive this is for new homebuyers, but Henry goes in depth describing how it has benefited him and the family. His journal also includes a photo album of Henry and his family spending time all around the community. Be sure to say “hi” next time you see him out and about in the Atlanta golf community.
