For months we have been telling you about the new traffic light coming to the intersection of Hwy 155 and Heron Bay Boulevard and on June 17 at 11:30 a.m. we invite you to join us for the groundbreaking ceremony. Hosted by the Henry County Board of Commissioners, the groundbreaking ceremony marks the end of a long road that began in 2005. We are excited about the traffic light becoming a reality and we ask that all of our residents join us for this long awaited occassion.

Following years of hardwork and dedication we are pleased to announce that the traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 155 and Heron Bay Boulevard has received final approval. Construction of the traffic signal began in March and is expected to be completed by July 2009. Over the past few years, Minerva Properties has worked to make the traffic signal a reality. In 2005, following the original zoning of Heron Bay, Minerva conducted a traffic warrant study which determined the traffic level at the intersection met the Georgia Department of Transportation (GA DOT) requirements for the signal to be installed. The GA DOT approved the warrant study and Minerva arranged meetings with Henry County Public Works Department and the GA DOT to initiate the signal design and obtain a GA DOT permit for the construction of the signal.

In 2008, Minerva coordinated a private-public funding agreement between an adjacent property owner and the Henry County Board of Commissioners. (more…)

On a mission to make the community safer for residents and other Locust Grove residents, Heron Bay has petitioned to have a traffic light installed at the intersection of Highway 155 and Heron Bay Boulevard. The good news is that the County Commissioner, Warren Holder, and the Henry County Board of Commissioners approved our request and work will commence on getting it installed in the near future. You may be wondering why we are so excited about a traffic light – maybe it makes you think of many country songs about a small town with only one traffic light. Well, Heron Bay is like the small towns in those country songs. While it is an Atlanta golf community, in many ways, it feels like a town all in itself. The community hosts many unique and one-of-a-kind events for its residents, and neighbors know each other on a first name basis. The community even has its own “downtown” (Town Center at Heron Bay). So, the installation of the traffic light is a big deal for residents as it will add a sense of security for them and their children. (more…)
