An article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that last week the Georgia State Board of Education approved a $5,000 grant for Heron Bay Academy, a proposed charter school. Six other metro Atlanta groups also received the grant to gather applications for the charter school . Heron Bay Academy’s proposed location is within the future Heron Bay Village located off Highway 155 just south of the main entrance of Heron Bay. Heron Bay Academy is proposed to open 2010 for grades K-6, pending approval this fall from Griffin-Spalding Board of Education, Henry Board of Education and the State of Georgia DOE. (more…)
