Kicking off the new year, The Henry Players will be performing The Women Thursday, February 18 through Sunday, February 21. The Women by Clare Boothe Luce is a satirical performance situated in 1936 to 1938 and focuses on high society wives in New York City.
The cast is made up of all women, but like most of the conversations we have with our girlfriends men are the the focal point of the conversation throughout the play. These upper-class women experience marriage, divorce, vanity and gossip: all of which play heavily in their daily struggle to move themselves up in society.
Damon and Kay Bohan, residents of the Atlanta golf community, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, volunteer their time with the Henry Players.
In addition to volunteering, the busy couple also runs a local salon, Damon’s Design Team in McDonough. They have both performed in several plays as well as done the hair and makeup for a few of the productions.
Damon directed Sweeney Todd during the 2009 season and Kay was the Assistant Director for Deathtrap. She will also be appearing in The Women. (more…)

Mature-market (55+) home buyers in a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Home Builders and the MetLife Mature Market Institute showed a split in preferences from one age group to the next. The younger group, age 55-64 years old, was found to have greater interest in a home that was tech heavy in its design, whereas the older group, 65+, preferred the home to be a one- story with universal design features.
Some surprising information that came out of this survey was that the younger group preferred service oriented homes and communities versus one that had greater amenities and social activities. One thing they both had in common was the desire for home maintenance and repair to be included, as well as other services like housekeeping, on-site health care (more…)

When purchasing a new home we are often inundated with a myriad of acronyms: FDIC, HOA, ARM, TILA. All the different abbreviations and terms can get jumbled up and while most of them have to do with the buying and lending process, there is one that is important to you as both a home buyer and a homeowner: HOA.
What is an HOA?
Also known as a Homeowner’s Association, HOAs are often created by the developer to maintain the quality of the neighborhood. Once a certain number of homes have been sold, the developer often turns the HOA over to the community to run. Depending on the community, HOAs function in different capacities. In the Atlanta golf community of Heron Bay Golf & Country Club, the Homeowner’s Association is run by the developer, Minerva Properties. (more…)

The Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee, made up of residents in the Henry county community, is already busy planning their give-back events to benefit several organizations throughout the upcoming year. The Liaison Committee is dedicated to reaching out to both Heron Bay residents and those in need throughout the world.
The January project “SAVE Your Greeting Cards” encourages residents to donate their old Christmas and greeting cards to benefit the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.
St. Jude’s recycles the cards and sells them on their website. The children at the ranch play a big part in re-creating the “new” cards by removing the front of the cards and attaching a new back. The children benefit from the program by receiving payment for their work and they also learn the importance of “going green”. (more…)
