Residents of the Atlanta golf and country club community, Heron Bay, have an incredible educational environment for all to enjoy. Noah’s Ark in nearby Locust Grove provides a home to abused, neglected and orphaned children and animals. Nestled among the 250-acre retreat is a rehabilitation facility for animals, a residential home for children, natural animal habitats and nature trails. Noah’s Ark opens at various times throughout the year to tour the animal habitats and learn about the nonprofit organization.
This weekend, the retreat is offering its first overnight camp, Adventure Safari, from 7pm Friday evening until 11am Saturday morning. The evening under the stars will feature a “Flashlight Safari” of animal habitats to see which (more…)

Heron Bay Golf and Country Club in Locust Grove is pleased to announce that the seventh annual Goblin Gallop to benefit Henry County’s Hands of Hope Clinic will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 3 p.m. You are invited to grab your favorite Halloween costume and join the Atlanta golf community for an afternoon of fall family fun. The event includes a 5K run along beautiful tree-lined Heron Bay Boulevard, 1mile Run/Walk and Tot Trot for the kids around the mushroom pool.
Established in 2004 as a way to bring the community together while drawing awareness of and raising funds for the Hands of Hope Clinic, the Goblin Gallop has grown in size each year, and has been hosted by the master-planned community, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, since 2005. Last year’s Goblin Gallop attracted more than 300 participants and raised more than $25,000 for the clinic, which provides medical and dental services to uninsured residents of Henry County.
The Goblin Gallop is an event for every age group with three different races: 5K Run, 1 Mile Run/Walk and the “Tot Trot,” for kids aged five and under. Race costs are as (more…)

On stage from June 24th through June 27th, the Henry Players will be performing a children’s favorite, Charlotte’s Web at the Henry County Performing Arts Center in McDonough, Georgia.
The play is based on the literary classic by E.B. White and focuses on the meaning of friendship. Wilbur, the young pig who is afraid of being slaughtered by the farmer, befriends a spider named Charlotte. Charlotte’s extraordinary talent of writing words in her web, proves to be useful as she attempts to save Wilbur’s life by writing praising words about the pig for the farmer to see.

Dad’s get one day a year and it is coming up, this Sunday, June 20th. There are many things happening in and around Atlanta that Dad will be able to celebrate Father’s Day all weekend long.
Start the weekend off at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Henry County for Friday Night Drags. It’s drag racing action that’s fun for the whole family.
Locust Grove, Georgia is hosting their Farmer’s Market in the Grove on Saturday, June 19th from 9AM to noon. Here, you’ll be able to check out fresh produce from local farmers and other homemade goodies.
Take Dad to see the Atlanta Braves play the Kansas City Royals at Turner Field Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Play a round of golf at Canongate at Heron Bay and then enjoy lunch with your dad in the clubhouse overlooking the putting green and driving range. The Heron Bay Community Association, Advanced Aquatics and residents of Heron Bay have organized a summer swim team. This is the first year the Henry county community has had a swim team and the 40 member team is already practicing in anticipation of their first swim meet. Children from 5 years old to 18 years old are invited to participate in the team sport. The residents of the Atlanta golf community are thrilled to be benefiting greatly by having yet another activity so close to home. This is a great way for the children to remain active during the summer, make new friends and parents to meet new neighbors. The cohesiveness of Heron Bay makes it truly a great place to settle down. Taste of Henry is being held this Friday, April 23rd from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Jason T. Harper Event Center at Heritage Park in McDonough, Georgia. Proceeds from this annual event’s ticket sales will benefit A Friend’s House, a home for children in crisis.
Over 25 local area restaurants will be showcasing popular menu items ranging from appetizers and sweet treats to main courses. You can expect to see locally owned restaurants like Season’s Bistro to popular chain restaurants like Shane’s Rib Shack, Chick-Fil-A and Bruster’s Real Ice Cream.
