Mosaica Education and Heron Bay Academy

Heron Bay Academy Heron Bay Academy in Henry County is one of Georgia’s newly approved public charter schools. The elementary/middle school will be located just north of the main entrance to Atlanta Golf community, Heron Bay Golf & Country Club in Locust Grove, Georgia.

Residents of both Henry and Spalding county communities have been thrilled with the approval of this new school and several companies have gotten on board to make Heron Bay Academy one of the best schools in the state of Georgia.

One of those companies is Mosaica Education. Mosaica has a huge role in the conception of Heron Bay Academy and will continue to play a major role in  the design and implementation of the school’s specialized curriculum as well as the rigorous training of the school’s teaching professionals. Lawn Seminar for Residents at Heron Bay

Heron Bay Golf & Country Club CommunityThe Positive Standards Committee at master-planned community, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club hosted a Spring Landscaping Seminar for fellow residents on March 9. The seminar featured the owner of Serenity Landscape Services who provided tips on having a pristine yard for the upcoming spring, summer and fall seasons.

One of the tips Serenity Landscapes gave was the importance of putting pre-emergent on the lawn by the end of March to prevent summer/fall weeds. (more…)

Heron Bay was on TV, Did You Miss It?

Heron Bay ClubhouseAtlanta golf community,  Heron Bay Golf and Country Club was featured on Atlanta’s Best New Homes on Fox on Sunday, February 28 at 10 a.m., but if you missed it you can still catch the video on YouTube and see everything this master-planned community is known for.

Heron Bay is a golf and lake community located in Locust Grove, south of Atlanta and has some of the most amazing amenities in the Southern Crescent.

One of the most woderful amenities is the lakefront park which allows one to look out over the 1,100 acre Cole Resevoir and enjoy the warm weather heading our way. (more…)

Community Celebrates Approval of Heron Bay Academy

Heron Bay AcademyThe Heron Bay community and residents of Henry and Spalding counties recently celebrated the approval of Heron Bay Academy’s charter from the State of Georgia Charter Commission.

The celebratory meeting was held on Wednesday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Heron Bay Lodge. Residents from both Henry and Spalding counties met to celebrate the new charter and to identify opportunities for volunteering and leadership. Discussion was held regarding the next steps Henry County will take. Some of the steps included the  need for volunteer assistance, anticipated timeliness and being able to answer questions.

35 groups applied to the commission for new charters and Heron Bay Academy was one of only seven approved charters this past year. (more…)

Heron Bay Community Blood Drive

American Red CrossThe Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee is hosting a Blood Drive on Saturday, February 27 . The American Red Cross will be parking the Blood Mobile at the Sales and Information Center from 10AM to 3PM. All residents at the Atlanta lake community are encouraged bring friends and family members to donate blood.

Any participants donating blood or platelets between January 1 and March 31, 2010 are entered into a drawing for a $1000 gift card.  Join the effort to help those in need of lifesaving blood.

Heron Bay Resident Takes the Stage

Henry Players The WomenKicking off the new year,  The Henry Players will be performing The Women Thursday, February 18 through Sunday, February 21. The Women by Clare Boothe Luce is a satirical performance situated in 1936 to 1938 and focuses on high society wives in New York City.

The cast is made up of all women, but like most of the conversations we have with our girlfriends  men are the the focal point of the conversation throughout the play.  These  upper-class women experience marriage, divorce, vanity and gossip: all of which play heavily in their daily struggle to move themselves up in society.

Damon and Kay Bohan, residents of the Atlanta golf community, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, volunteer their time with the Henry Players.

In addition to volunteering, the busy couple also runs a local salon, Damon’s Design Team in McDonough. They have both performed in several plays as well as done the hair and makeup for a few of the productions.

Damon directed Sweeney Todd during the 2009 season and Kay was the Assistant Director for Deathtrap. She will also be appearing in The Women. (more…)

Heron Bay Committee Planning Events for 2010

Heron Bay Golf and Country ClubThe Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee, made up of residents in the Henry county community, is already busy planning their give-back events to benefit several organizations throughout the upcoming year.  The Liaison Committee is dedicated to reaching out to both Heron Bay residents and those in need throughout the world.

The January project “SAVE Your Greeting Cards” encourages residents to donate their old Christmas and greeting cards to benefit the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

St. Jude’s recycles the cards and sells them on their website. The children at the ranch play a big part in re-creating the “new” cards by removing the front of the cards and attaching a new back. The children benefit from the program by receiving payment for their work and they also learn the importance of “going green”. (more…)
