The Goblin Gallop is exactly eight weeks from today, which means even if you start training today, you will be in perfect shape to complete the 6K run. Don’t believe me? There is an easy training schedule that will get you from the couch to a 5 K in only 8 weeks. I know that the Goblin Gallop is a 6K not a 5 K, but if you are in good enough shape for a 5 K, the Goblin Gallop will be an easy transition. Just follow this training schedule that promises a fun, easy transition into running. The whole point of this schedule is not to over-exert yourself so that you do enjoy your exercise. The best part is that by beginning your training now means cooler temperatures on the horizon and running will not be as painful as it would have in the heat of the summer. You also have eight full weeks to plan your costume. A great idea would be to get a group of friends together and dress up in coordinating outfits! Prizes will be awarded to exceptional costumes, so don’t procrastinate until the last minute. (more…)

Heron Bay’s Summer Mixed ALTA tennis team crushed the B3 division in their first year together. The team made it to the third round of the city playoffs, and that only illustrates the type of community Heron Bay is. There is a true sense of community in the fact that they not only live together but also play together and work well as a team. Their team work has paid off and has brought glory to their tennis arena.
This fall the Heron Bay Tennis Club will be adding a Junior Boys team, 2 Men’s teams and 1 Ladies ALTA team. Since there is such a high interest in the club there should be two ladies tennis teams by the winter. If you are a beginner or intermediate player there is no need to fret. The tennis club will also be starting teams perfect for you to hone your skills very soon. To increase you skill level, build team spirit, have fun, and bring home glory to your Heron Bay community contact Lisa Alexander at 770.898.0020 or email her at: lisaalexander01@yahoo.com.

Heron Bay Golf & Country Club stands out from other communities because of the emphasis they place on the natural beauty of the land. While building the new homes in Locust Grove, Todd Smith, Project Manager for Minerva, focused on developing the homes with the natural features of the land. He delicately balanced the many streams, waterways, special tree stands that feed the Cole Reservoir.
Todd made himself familiar with the lay of the land to make the new homes in Henry County fit in without disturbing the natural setting. The knowledge Todd gained from surveying the land allowed the opportunity to adjust roads and utilities to save features such as a large American Beech Tree. The tree is now a joy to everyone who drives along Heron Bay Boulevard. (more…)

On Saturday, August 9th, August 16th & September 20th from 10AM—12PM the Heron Bay Community Liaison Committee will be collecting donations for Noah’s Ark. Noah’s Ark is a rehabilitation center for over 1,000 animals. The non-profit organization, located in Locust Grove, also serves as a home for children up to 18 years old. Noah’s Ark relies on donations to keep the facility running. If donations are not plentiful animals in need of rehabilitation must be turned away. In 2007, 1,289 animals could not be taken in because of lack of funding.
Be sure to stop by the Lodge in the Atlanta golf community on any of the dates mentioned above to make a donation to the Ark. They need animal feed and toys, school supplies, childrens DVD’s and outdoor toys for the children. Gift cards to Walmart, grocery stores and restaurants are also welcome, along with other monetary donations. Go to the following website to order feed supplies and they will be delivered directly to Noah’s Ark: www.akinsfeedandseed.com
Your generosity is what keeps this boat afloat

All residents of Heron Bay Golf & Country Club know they have a high-quality, luxury home no matter what part of the master-planned community they live in. Even better are the conveniences of the retail village at Heron Bay which include restaurants, shops, an urgent care clinic, banks and other daily errand stops which allows residents to save time driving around and spend more time doing the things they love. However, its what residents might not necessarily notice that truly gives this Atlanta golf community the luxurious and peaceful feel its known for: over 560 acres of green space! This incredible amount of green space is not only really impressive for a master-planned community, but also is such a great way to enjoy the natural beauty Georgia has to offer. Heron Bay is a perfect blend of all the modern conveniences and home upgrades of an Atlanta new home, while still maintaining 560 acres of what makes the south a beautiful place to live. So take a walk around Heron Bay in Henry County and really take pride in one community that understands that less really is more.
