Haley the Climate Ambassador
This weekend, Haley and I dug around for some more fun ways to help improve our environment. Haley, my budding environmentalist, has decided that she wants to become a “climate ambassador” for her school. Haley found a page on the Environmental Protection Agency website that allows students to calculate how much of an impact their school’s everyday actions are having on the environment.
Haley found that you can calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of a school and even the climate change caused by the school. She is very interested in this subject and thinks she can find ways to reduce the school’s impact just like she has done at home.
If Haley finds anything of interest, she can contact the local school district to give suggestions for correcting any problems or issues. Haley has already used the website that she found to compare the reported energy use of schools in our area to schools across the nation. She is planning to use her research for the science fair at the local elementary school.
I can’t wait to see what she will do with this new knowledge. I am so proud of her for pursuing her passions and doing something good for the environment. Way to go, Haley!
