Support the Heron Bay Academy
Heron Bay Golf & Country Club is working hard to get approval on their pending charter for the Heron Bay Academy and now is the time for you to step in and show your support. Once approved, children at the master-planned community in Henry County will have the opportunity to attend the new school beginning fall 2010. The Henry and Griffin-Spalding County School Systems are expected to make their decision within 60 days, so we need your support NOW.
You have two opportunities to show your support: attend an upcoming school board meeting of the counties or write letters of support to the district representative. The Henry County School Board meets June 8 and July 13th at 7 p.m. At this time we are not clear when they will vote on the petition; however, the public can make comments at all School Board meetings. Henry County Board of Education meetings are held at 33 North Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough. On June 30 at 6 p.m., the Griffin-Spalding School Board will meet at 216 South 6th St. in Griffin.
If you cannot make it to any of these meetings, then just simply submit a letter to the school board representatives:

Getting the charter approved is top priority for residents at Heron Bay. Heron Bay Academy will be located within the boundaries of Heron Bay and will offer an amazing educational experience for students. Heron Bay Academy has a in-depth plan for acheiving this academic excellence that includes a rigorous program with extended days and school years. So, help them get approval for their charter so the students in these Henry County new homes have an opportunity for improved education.
